Our Story

Larry Lacerte founded Lacerte Software in 1978 to meet the operational challenges facing Accounting and Tax Preparation Professionals. His development of Lacerte Tax Software ignited a paradigm shift in the use of technology within the Tax Preparation Industry.  Over a 20-year period, and through numerous technological innovations, Larry established Lacerte Tax Software as the clear leading product in market share and service.

As one of the leading entrepreneurs in the technology industry for over 25 years, Larry Lacerte has been a founder, software developer, owner operator, and chief executive.  He is credited with bringing significant technological innovation to the Accounting Industry and in 1996 was named as one of the “Trailblazers in Technology” by Accounting Today.  In 1998, Larry sold Lacerte Tax Software to Intuit.

After a short hiatus, Larry formed Exponent Technologies to develop innovative technology to meet the challenges facing HR Professionals, because this strategic function is critical to every company’s ability to attract and retain quality employees, manage critical business data, focus resources, and scale operational infrastructure. We have developed an approach to HR technology that signifies a major paradigm shift in outsourcing, technology, self-management philosophy, data management, and service levels.

Larry has a proven expertise in business management and a highly regarded vision for the application of technology to meet real-world business challenges. In addition to his responsibilities as President of Exponent Technologies, he serves on the Board of Directors for several technology companies, educational institutions, and charitable organizations.
